The Center for Undisciplined Research is a nine-month, decentralized “center" housed by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Based out of office #228 at the Star Store in downtown New Bedford, the Center is a student focused research collective and itinerant space that toes the boundaries of art and its capacity to serve as a tool for making meaning in the world. Our primary purpose is to support students in their journey to figure out how they want to learn and what they want to learn about, and we hope to assign value to the unstructured and loose ways we study people and places everyday, questioning what gets sanctioned as research.
